Overview

The PreSonus AudioBox 96 includes the full version of Studio One Artist — a professional DAW that normally costs £79 on its own. If you don't have a DAW yet, this bundle is hard to beat for total spend when getting started.

Sound Quality

Preamps are clean and functional without being exceptional. Noise floor slightly higher than Scarlett equivalents. For vocals, guitar, and podcast at 44.1 or 48kHz, results are perfectly adequate. The 96kHz ceiling is the main technical limitation.

Studio One Artist: The Real Value

Studio One Artist is a genuinely excellent DAW — professional, well-maintained, well-regarded. Not a stripped-down demo. Getting it free with a £99 interface is exceptional value.

Who Is It For?

Budget-conscious beginners who need both an interface and a DAW. If you already own a DAW, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo offers better sound for similar money.

Pros & Cons

✓ Pros

  • Full Studio One Artist DAW included
  • MIDI I/O at this price
  • Extremely affordable
  • Rock-solid drivers
  • Compact and portable

✕ Cons

  • Maximum 96kHz — no 192kHz
  • Preamps functional not impressive
  • Older USB-B connector
  • Limited dynamic range vs rivals

Verdict

The PreSonus AudioBox 96 is a decent interface elevated to good value by the bundled Studio One Artist. The preamps are functional rather than exceptional and the 96kHz ceiling feels dated. But for starting from zero needing both interface and DAW, this bundle is genuinely compelling.
